Designers
Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and design textiles manufacturer Kvadrat join
hands to simplify and romanticize the mundane chore of hanging curtains…
Brothers
Ronan & Erwan are well known for their simple yet innovative solutions to
various significant and seemingly inconsequential design dilemmas of everyday
life. This time they hit upon the task of hanging up curtains using elementary
skills and a straightforward installation.

Doing
away with hi-tech mechanisms, and emulating the most popular method of fixing a
poster to a wall, with a simple staple, the prêt-à-porter curtain is an
effortless method of fixing fabric to window.

Replacing
the traditional curtain pole with the ingenuous hanging cord, they revive the
ancient winding mechanism – an efficient solution that can be rewound as the
need arises, easily transferable from one window to another. The system works
on the right amount of tension in the cord.

The
readymade curtain kit offers a selection of 2 Kvadrat fabrics – light and
semi-transparent and wooly; available in 3 different colours, with pegs, cord and the hanging
mechanism to match. The colour
palette varies for both fabrics ranging from white and light blue for the
former to warm colours
such
as red, dark blue and natural shades for the woolen textiles.

The
product is an attempt by the designers to create an easy DIY contemporary
drapery system, whilst retaining the light and airy feel of a living space.

A
highlight of this product by the Bouroullecs is the almost rustic, simple
hanging mechanism without any intervention on the fabric itself. The onus of
the décor thus lay on the Kvadrat fabric being used.
Hey its very easy to create this kind of curtains at home. Some time we can't get proper thing in market which we want so create it at home.
