Istanbul based interior design studio Gönye Proje Tasarım designs a modern home prioritising functionality and visual richness in equal measure…
Plush has many meanings. When studio Gönye Proje Tasarım was asked to lend their expertise to this contemporary home in Küçükyal, one of the most prestigious regions of Istanbul on the Anatolian side; they decided to resort to visual richness as the focus loci.
Ingeniously camouflaging delicate details of functionality in the intended aesthetic, they resorted to a modern design line with well-qualified material selections and nuanced details.
Using parquet flooring as the singularly binding feature, a welcoming, homely feel is established throughout the home. Ceramics with a natural stone look, natural marble for the television and dinner tables, and wall papers in the bathrooms provide a warm effect. Wooden cabinets and cupboards provide extensive storage camouflaged behind panelling; whilst wooden-like cupboard doors in the furniture and mirrors with cupboards enhance the storage area in the bathrooms.
The crux of the design lies in its detailing. Elegant leather details on the sofas in living areas are complemented by especially designed leather-detailed pillows. The floor rugs are also especially designed and produced in sync with the colours of the furniture. The bedroom too showcases an elegantly styled smoky-glass separator cordoning off the bedside from the dressing area, which receives ample sunlight. Similarly, elegant bronze metal details are used on the large wooden panels in the bedhead.
The apartment reflects a naturally chic style with choice artefacts and all oil paintings especially commissioned by the artist, Esra Yılmaz.
