Colour expert
and designer Emmanuelle Moureaux has conceptualised a new colourful bedding
brand, "yurariro" that aspires to introduce joie de vivre in the
bedroom! The designer explains...
I have
collaborated with a 450-years old leading bedding manufacturer of Japan,
Nishikawa Sangyo (also known as "Tokyo Nishikawa"), to develop their
new range of colourful bedding.
In Japan, most bedding products are neutral in
colour or, occasionally colourful but quite plain in their simplicity, thus
devoid of any vibrancy. My aim was to create bedding products that would uplift
your bedroom and you, and lend an innate joy, wrapping the ambience in colour.
The main product
of the brand is "towel-ket", which is a summer blanket that resembles
a large towel. It is a very popular item in Japan, because it is light-weight
and washable.
Developed in
collaboration with Imabari – Japan’s renowned production area of towel products,
I’ve designed six types of "next-generation" towel-kets, focusing on colours
and comfort.
Some concerns
from users such as "difficult to dry after wash" and "piles
falling out", were solved one-by-one through knowledge and skills of
artisans, improving the overall performance.
In addition to
towel-kets, I’ve also designed 4 variations of light "futon"(bedding)
also manufactured in Japan.
With my concept
"Touch colours in peace, see colours in joy. Wrapped in dancing colours,
sleep comfortably in a colourful dream", I wish the new brand provides a
comfortable and colourful sleep for spring and summer. I hope your bedroom
becomes joyful with my colourful design.
