Spanish interior and marketing firm Masquespacio brings back the Parisian 1970’s, but with a twist – a retro-futuristic ‘Cabinette’ that boldly questions the idea of ‘normal’, urging users to step away from stereotypes and clichés...

A creative capsule that offers a stimulating experience, this 200 sq. m. co-working space in Valencia is designed to promote brainstorming and ideating sessions – especially for those with a penchant for design. Deliberately keeping stereotypes and clichés at bay, the space forms a chimerical sanctuary, evoking charisma, and bright vibes - a world away from conventional spaces.

Inspired by the firm’s very own ‘Sexy, Lux and Fun’ concept that presents a timeless and iconic quality yet strives for a fresh outlook, the double height volume creates an uninhibited environment. While the lower floor comprises the main booths, a terrace and the kitchen, the mezzanine hosts three meeting rooms. With the positions of picture frames and curtains inverted, the space challenges one’s perspective of the ‘normal’.

Dark, rich colours and velvet furnishings with gold-finished accents mark a clear boundary with luminous white and silver - the space hinting at the past while transporting one to the future. The irony carries forward through the furniture and the lighting, as they complement one another, transmitting a vibrant, joyful, and unconventional energy. Adding to this vibe is the tranquillity and greenery of the outdoors, fuelling creativity and artistic endeavours.

Through its representation of Paris in the 60’s/70’s, the project also references the movie ‘Playtime’, where an office full of ‘cabinets’ presents a labyrinth that leads to an exhibition.

A space for building without limits, the ‘Cabinette’ offers a bubble of ingenuity for anyone who wishes to unshackle themselves from the confines of the ordinary.  Just opened, the place has all precautions in place in keeping with the current pandemic.
